Liquid nails ok for underwater?
    #3190230 - 09/28/04 02:05 AM (19 years, 6 months ago)

the dude in walmart recommended Liquid nails for what i explained to him....i'm trying to seal the holes the hoses go through into the bubble wands in my pmp. it say though on the back to not use if rain is expected, if it's below the water line, and not recommended for use in aquariums...i have a rubbermaid tub. it says "clearer than Silicone"...i was told silicone is good, but i'm not sure...i gobbed this stuff on and am waiting till morning ...well a few hours to see if the water hill hold.

any help on if Liquid nails will do the trick?

No idea on Liquid Nails, but fish tank sealant silicone should work great too.

You'll have to let us know how it goes.

Why dont you just put the holes for the tubes running in above water level, then run them down into the airstones. They only have to be like and inch or two above the water line. Then you don't even have to worry about sealing the holes. Also i made them just big enough for the tubes to barely fit in them.

I suggest JB weld, it will hold up to anything, make sure you get the quik weld it sets up it minutes. The regular takes a lot longer, I suppose any epoxy would work though just make sure it's a quick setter upper,it will tell you on the package. If you use it take a piece of sandpaper and just rough the surface that the epoxy will stick too it adheres a hundred times better to a rough surface than a smooth one. GL.

You can go to home depot and get "aquarium safe silicone". I use it in a hydroponic unit and it works great!
