Hey good call man! No i actually don't know much about IDing mushrooms, but come on. "I hope so, I just ate some." I have no idea whether they are what you hope them to be, but you gotta be smarter!

According to a book I have,

The incubation period for some poisonings can last up to 14 days.

Go to the hospital now! and bring some of those mushrooms with you!

Even if they were hallucinogenic and you wanted to trip, you can get away with saying you thought they were edables.

Never do that kind of shit again!

In the event of a possible poisoning, be sure to save some specimens. In order for them to know how to treat your poisoning, they would have to know what type of poisoning you have.

Or at least it would help them find the best sort of treatment(?).

Aye, of course. But does anyone actually have an opinion on these, judging from the picture? I'm pretty sure they were deceptiva, and there are no poisonous relatives that I know of.

They are both right... Some mushrooms don't have any noticable poisonous affects until several days after consumption. I say you goto the hospitol with a specimin of the mushroom you ate.

Put up a description, spore print ect and mabie someone will be able to help you, hopefully.

Good luck btw, and in the future dont forget: Unidentified mushrooms should never be consumed.

Caps: About 5mm wide tops. approx 3mm tall. White, with a darker spot in the middle of some specimens.
Stem: Approx 1mm wide, 40mm long tops. White.
Gills: White, even and concave - a calling card of this genus.
Sporeprint dosn't show up on white paper, so must be white.

You need more than just that not very good photo for an ID, especially of members of a genus as difficult to identify as Clitocybe. Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum - it tells you the sort of things we need to know about. Habitat will be very important. Have you done a spore print yet?

From that photo I wouldn't even bet they're Clitocybes.

As far as possibly being poisoned, the standard thing at this point would be to wait and see if any symptoms develop. If there are no symptoms of poisoning there is not point in going to an emergency room. If you ate the mushroom more than 4 hours ago then there would only be symptomatic treatment anyway.

Having said that, you should take the specimens you still have and put them in a bag in the refrigerator. If you do get sick, take those mushrooms to the emergency room with you. They will be able to contact a local mycologist to examine them and identify them.

The toxic species of Clitocybe primarily have muscarine for a toxin. The normal time for that toxin to take effect is less than 30 minutes. Although very unpleasant, fatalities are fortunately rare.

If you don't know what kind of mushrooms they are, why would you put them in your mouth? If you think you know what they are, then you should be able to describe exactly what features they have that tell you so and that they aren't just similar looking. Clitocybe is a very difficult genus to identify mushrooms in. Almost all of them are white to gray to tan colored and very similar in appearance.

Happy mushrooming!

Usually stuff like stomach discomfort, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness and whatnot. Although I doubt your dose was large enough to induce any serious effects, so with a bit of luck you'll get away with it this time.

Just don't be stupid next time. If you're unsure of your iding skills and really, really _have_ to eat mushrooms, go to a grocery store.

Fair enough. Does any one know of tests, such as measuring the PH, that can be used for chemicals containing within mushrooms?

I believe that there are no tests you can easily perform at home that indicate the occurence of a certain cehmical in a mushroom sample.

In some of my books, species are listed as being "tested positive" for muscarine. I would guess that the test is not readily available and probably only used by mycologists, chemists ect.
