Why bad trips are NOT bad
    #3190056 - 09/28/04 03:22 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I've tripped many times before.  Am I the only one who looks back at negitive trips and says (after the fact) "hay that was'nt all bad, infact it was interesting and kinda fun?"

Anyway, a friend and I went to see Resident evil.  We wanted to see how this movie was going to be while trippin.  We had acouple of beers, ate the shrooms and 20 minutes later we were sittin in the movie.

After the end of the previews, an I N T E N S E feeling of the walls closing in on me hit.  I left the theather to walk around, and gain my composure.  10 minutes later, I realized I left my friend in there by himself?

He said (right before i came back for him) had i not shown up, he was going to start yellin my name until I came back!

Anyway, I convinced him to leave, (he wanted to stay cause of the money we spent, and he wanted to prove he was tough) and I DROVE him home.

Without being terribly long winded, he convinced me he was fine and I went home.  The next day we talked about how crazy the night before was and how all the things we said, (eg we'll NEVER do shrooms again) were funny and we couldnt wait to do it again.

Whats my point of this?  Well I find  setting is T H E MOST IMPORTANT factor when it comes to trippin, (i knew that before but being experienced I figured it would be okay..... W R O N G )  and second, even with the experience it was STILL fun and I'd do it again.  A negitive trip is really not negitive the next day, you'll ALWAYS find something interesting and fun to reflect on:)

Thanks for listening

Sorry TB, but if you "know" something and fail to act on that knowledge, then you most certainly don't know it. Big diff between head knowledge and wisdom - maturity.

The words you say are true indeed swami, but human nature is all about the experience. While I know set and setting is probably the #1 factor on how a person trips, I figured because i was experienced it would not effect my in a negitive way, and I would gain a different perspective on
shrooms in a movie setting.

Like Red said, he saw Jurrasic Park and had no problems. ( i assume) I've been to clubs, stayed home, been to friends houses, all with positive results. I wouldnt even say my experience was BAD in itself,
it just reinforced (for me & my friend) the need be in a positive inviorment.

In fact the movie itself was not even scary, (we saw probably 15 min of it before we left) we just hated the feeling of the walls comming in on us.

Would be the same difference with smoking, obesity, or anything else we as people do. This however was harmless. It was interesting, and like I've said before, I still had fun:) Just have to keep my activities in a open and positive setting:) Maybe a sharks tale would be better?

Thats interesting, because it sounds like were saying the same thing, I call it "bad" becasue thats what we, people call it when your not laughing or having a good time. I always look back at the experience and say hay that was "interesting"

Yeah I always learn so much from all my trips, esp. the scary ones. A trip is an experience, it's what you make of it. There are no bad trips, just freaky trips that some people attach negativity too. Peace.

Shrooms always have a way of teaching you a lesson, whether it is through a terrifying trip, or an amazingly pleasent one.

Thinking about a bad trip a while after, it doesn't seem so bad.

But at the time of a bad trip, I wanted to kill myself, so it must of been pretty bad.

I learned more about myself from having a bad trip than anything else in my life has taught me. It was scary as hell at the time - I couldn't comprehend who I was, where I was, or how I related to the rest of the world..Nothing made sense, and I thought I had lost my mind for good...but even by the end of the trip I realized that I would most likely look at it as a positive experience from then on, even though I thought I was going to die for a good hour. It is very humbling to feel so vulnerable, and in the end it can only be a good thing. I've never heard of anyone having permanent bad effects from shrooms, so even the worst trips will end and everything will be back to normal..might as well take what you can away from it rather than being too scared to learn something.
