Very nice. The purple ones look like various Cortinarius to me.

One of my favorite recipes for Matsutake is very simple. Clean them, slice them about a centimeter thick, and grill them. Season with a little soy sauce. Eating them this way is considered a major luxury in Japan, because you have to have quite a few of them. Over there they mostly get used in ways that stretch the amount of food flavored by them.

nice finds, especially on the matsutake :laugh:

were they all found around the same area?  I've seen many of those species around, but not the matsutakes, unfortunately...

They were all found within a 1 mile radius

Apparently the area has not had a this wet of a summer for the last five years. One person even found two bunches of these:



Personally, I would've torn off one section for the display and eaten the rest.
