your Wiki is wide open

I noticed someone had linked to a wiki site with all the faq shit on it.
it's wide open right now...editable by all.
FYI
also, I'm curious to know who spearheaded the wiki port...I've been developing on it for a while for my company's support portal and am interested in how you guys are planning on using it.
I've created a neat little plugin that allows you to expose/hide content within a page based on user/group membership.
this allows you to have a shared, central home page for all which displays only those things which the currently logged in user has access to.
I'm going to go masturbate to O'Reilly books now...

That's the goal. I wished more people would edit and contribute to it.

edit and contribute?
I just edited the page and added 'poopy pee pee boobies'.
does that count as contributing?

>have you seen TWiki? Yes. It's nice, but really too much for what we need here. Keep it simple.

Yeah, apparently we're 'non-notable'. I was going to post a vote to keep our entry, but except for stroking the collective admin ego I'm not sure exactly what purpose that would serve.

how are we non-noteable? and if we are, I'd like to see a site that is "noteable."

Heh... well, I like to think we're notable too. That was just the explanation given on the deletion request. I guess if you go by our Alexa rank, there are 36,483 sites more popular than the Shroomery and you could argue this makes us non-notable. However you are certainly welcome to register an account on Wikipedia and vote to keep our entry.

sure, but there's always an application or two that requires some security or user management which is why most wiki implementations come with built in support for edit and view locks.
in this example, leaving the content of the FAQs wide open to editing by ANY person who's stumbled onto the boards seems a little risky....whether it's all backed up or not.
now, if they were to keep it open to the mods/admins and registered board users to maintain, that would balance the concepts of wikis with some semblance of security.
ps. WOOOOOP WOOOOOOOOOOOP!

The wikis are regularly moderated, and it is simple to see and roll back any negative changes that are made. So far... no real problems. Perhaps, if it becomes problematic... we will do something. But, for now, we're having enough trouble getting people to edit the Wikis in the first place. No need to restrict privelages yet. We still need more editors!
