Maybe that's because it's not active eh?

it does have some history with the tribals:
Quote:

Several other cacti have been used by the Tarahumares as peyote substitutes. Among these are Obregonia denegrii, Aztekium ritterii, Astrophytum asterias, A. capricorne, A. myriostigma (Bishops cap), and Solisia pectinata.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/peyote/peyote_cactus_guide.shtml

it goes on to say that there are active components but they are so low in dose that its unlikely ud notice an effect.

wich makes me wonder how the primitive cultures would know to waste their time on this small group of cacti that has 0.002% actives or something instead of the bazillion cacti out there that have 0%...

perhaps they dont in general, but maybe like 1 in 1000 or so happens to have enuff to do something with or something like that...

in any case its culteral background makes it a nice companion to the real thing
