1-4 daysish? Many factors (especially strain) deal with this.

direct light just makes them grow funny, causes mutants i think, with indirect light they just grow wherever the light is coming from, which is usually a hole in the top somewhere, causing them to go strait up...

My fruiting chamber is a tub with a lid. The lid has a piece of plexeglass to make it see through. I have my 15w floro tub sitting on top of the tub. Is this too much?

Mai casing has been in the fruiting chamber for a week now, still knots, they are getting bigger and more are forming, but no pins yet. Sometimes pins form within the first in the fruiting chamber tho.

here are some knots on a straw surface.
just tiny white accumulations, like bits that escaped from a beanbag.

when they get a head it almost immediately goes brown, and you have a primordia, or 'pin'.

IMO this is bad advice, the flouro sitting ontop of the tub is just screaming DIRECT LIGHT... direct light is bad, placing the flouro on the floor having the light still indirectly come into the top seems a better idea... although the direct light may not harm your shrooms, it may cause them to grow in an unapealing manner...

Direct light doesnt cause them to grow in any bad manner (unappealing how?). The problem is UV light. Direct sunlight. Flouros are fine. The only problem may be heat however a 15watt flouro doesnt produce much heat and it shouldn't be to much. Though I wouldnt put it directly on the tub, I'd stick it 1-3 feet from the top. I use multiple flouro lights (mainly the kind that fit in normal sockets, the 15-20 watt ones) and they are directly over a number of my casings and growth is (if different at all) better then the casings that are on lower shelves farther from the lights. As long as after the pinset a 4-6 hour (on) light cycle is used that is.
