Hello, this is my first post here, and have a identification question. I have recently found several mushrooms that share these common characteristics:
cap: 2.5-8in, golden-bronze fading to a yellowish-mustard color. some dent in in the middle. has a lip around the outer edge that usually curves up. yellow edge. slimy and sticky when wet, usually with leaves stuck to it when dry. flesh is white fading to a light purple. bigger ones often have splits around the edge.
gills: purple fading to mustard or grey. one similar mushroom had brown gills
stem: 1-3in tall, up to 1.5in thick, yellow and/or purplish-grey, flesh near outside purple. slight bulge where the stem connects to the cap.
smell: reeks of that nasty magic mushroom smell.
i have not taken any of these home and have not taken any spore prints. they were growing in shady soil. i left one in the sun for a few days (gills up), and the gills turned bright purple. can anybody help me identify these.
