I'm not very experienced with casings yet, so bare with me. This casing was dunked after it's first flush, and I patched it up a bit with some fresh casing mix. Now it's pinning, but the casing layer never had any myc growth on it. Am I to expect the myc to come through a little first, or is this what should be happening?

I think your casing will be fine. Just let it pin and enjoy the harvest

well your suppose to patch the faster groing myc that pokes out to allow even pin set but this is only with the first flush in the casing... after you dunk it the myc wont poke threw anymore itll just pin. since its your 2nd flush i dont understand why your worried

Nope its pretty much done with the growing stage and is now just fruiting and flushes will come just like that! Looks like you did/are doing well. Keep it up!
And that whole myc being on a casing layer is overlay is very wrong information. Myc SHOULD be on the casing layer and should cover the casing layer quite well, thickly, and evenly. This is NOT overlay. Overlay is more matted down and dead looking, as long as its healthy, your good to go. I know thats not your question but thats a myth that should be squashed..

Heres a pic of a perfect myc growth into the casing layer, notice the casing is very uniformly colonized. Also notice there is no overlay conditions this is directly related to proper initiation timing. Also notice the pinset this here is your first flush bolting and as you can see the next flushes (knots) are already formed and waiting for their turn. GL

Hey I just got two of them shelves for my closet! The fit perfect on the side of each one. Wish the shelves were just a little closer together though...they couldve fit another one in there...get them at walmart? Heh. Whered you get them casing containers..they look like planters..that looks realll handy. I'm having problems finding good large but flatter ones with no holes in the bottom..or does he just leave the holes there? I was afraid of contams from every planter I looked at...
Also it looks misty in that bottom pic, is it always like that? Do you have your foggers set on timers at all or have you found they like those conditions. I've found my ultrasonic is misting my closet to the point that I get really fluffy balls of myc growing up..I do hand mist more often then I probably should too...I just dont want my babies drying out..
