Salvia Grow Lights
    #3176665 - 09/24/04 10:08 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

With fall coming I need to move my plants inside soon... I'm thinking about picking up two 48' fluorescent fixtures (each holds 2 tubes). I know fluorescents emit blue light - which is better for leaf growth, which is what you want with Salvia. However, I'm wondering if this would be enough wattage to keep my 3 plants happy. Any suggestions appreciated...thanks...

I've heard that just spraying the leaves a few times a day will be enough. No?

I have it indoor in front an east facing window, without any artificail light. She seems happy, leaf growth slows down a little...

Don't waste your money on the specialty grow light bulbs. Go to home depot and get the daylight flouros. They are the same thing and only cost like $6 each.

What you need to do is check out the degrees Kelvin that the light emits. The daylights are around 6500K which is close to summer grow conditions.

Hope this helps.

A hps would be good for indoor growth.

Can you really just spray the leaves twice a day? Or does the plant need more humidity. My ambient humidity is around 25-30%.

Peace

you don't need an HPS for indoor growth.
