take a nail file and file down the edges around the eye so the taproot can come out. Use the Paper towel meathod in a warm place.

Make a little cut into the point opposite the eye and soak in water overnight.

nope, the same side the eye is on, the roots come out right above teh eye. Ive already screwed up a few doing it liek that because a guide says too. When you do the side opposite the eye the leaves come out and the root dosent so they rot.

Forgot to say make sure it's warm water.
I've never ever had a seed fail to grow doing it like that. Most of the time they crack open anyway so I wouldn't worry about it.

Laz is right, score the seed and soak it in clean water, they will split open then plant and wait! It will take a bit for them to sprout so don't toss if you dont see anything the first week!

sometimes they can take a little long if you don't sprout them before you plant... i've seen one germinate like an year after being planted (non-germinated)! yeah, don't toss the vase before a couple yrs. =) FH

Umm, don't play near the germ eye. That's not a good idea. You can shake your seeds in a bag with some sand, or just make some small nicks, but even then it's not THAT necessary you'll still have germination without. You can soak them to help get the water in before putting them in the soil to germinate, but i've had success even without nicking / shaking with sand and without soaking.

I'm not sure that the ones I gave you will germanate.

I put three in pots, and they'd all come up in a week. Which means they must have sprouted in a few days, with no treatment at all.

will it produce flowers and seeds just growing it inside like a house plant. or do you have to grow it outside like in florida or cali? in illinois it wont survive the winter.
its a vine, do i need to give a pole to climb or somthing?

It flowers after 2 years or so and they need alot more than a bloody pole. They go berserk even if you prune like a madman you'll need some kind of trellis.

maybe thats not a good idea, perhaps it could cut off its own circulation or somthing, im sure it would be much happier growing on somthing other than itself.
im gonna grow mine up a tomato basket.
but i need to know, will the seedling grow good by a window indoors in the winter? or do i need to add supplemental lighting?

It'll be fine they don't need very much light for the first 8 months or so anyway.
I don't think your idea will work grower.

my HBWR seeds germinated after 28 days!! and i was going to toss them but i said to be a little patient and then.... voila !!! :-) They grow fast now, but they dont seem to like the strong hot sun of Greece. When they are in the direct sunlight they cower... and when i take them to indirect sunlight they are being fine again:-)

are they like a morning glory, ive read that morning glory enjoys less fertile soil, like sandy less qaulity crap soil rather then somthing with manure and peat and stuff.
what kinda dirt you got yurs in, im really not finding anything in depth on growing these indoors

Its not an idea its what im doing. Its alredy going up istelf and internodal growth is poping out. The ring is about 2' high 1' wide. I grow mine in a 4:1 peat/manure mix in direct sun. Its in a 2 gal pot, a bit small but its still growing a few inches a week. I need to water every 1-2 days and i fed it some kelp meal + high N guano over the summer once or twice.

hehe, here i go again, but ive dealt with stem/root/seed ROT and the way to get over them all, is dilute some H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) in with distilled water & the seeds. It kills the bacteria all while keeping the seed perfectly fine. Do a internet search on the words "Germinate Seed, Hydrogen Peroxide".
