Me and a buddy found these specimens in a huge patch along the forest edge to a gravel road, in a nice moist area growing in cut grass and in forest. Here are the best pictures I could get..could anyone tell me if these are Amanita Muscaria mushrooms, and if possibly not, please identify why. Thanks alot!! (these were found in Ferndale, Wa) ~~~The Lizard King~~~

Thanks, Joshua. Ya, I live in Ferndale, WAshington right now, which is like, 10 miles north of Bellingham. You as well? I went out looking today in a completely different area and found about 10 more Amanitas. I've got the first batch from yesterday drying. I think I'm going to try to oven bake these suckers to see how that works.

Very nice. Those are indeed Amanita muscaria subspecies flavivolvata. Great photos. They do make nice photo subjects, don't they?
Happy mushrooming!

The subspecies designation of A. muscaria flavivolvata is told by the off-white to creamy color of the universal veil as I recall. Are there any other notable differences?
LK, I live in Oregon.

My confusion is in your name. Lizard King is another users name here at the Shroomery. I take it you are not him.

I'm not aware of any other differences. Check out Rod Tulloss' web site for the most detail.
Happy mushrooming!
