party affiliation?
    #3172194 - 09/23/04 09:02 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

are any of you registered with a political party with your voter registration shit?

i'm filling out a registration form because i've recently changed my address. i'm thinking about registering as a republican. registering with a party only matters because you can vote in their primaries, right? i figure that i like pretty much no democrats, some republicans, and almost all libertarians.... so it makes sense to register as a republican and vote in their primaries and whatnot.

are you registered as an independent or with a party?

I am registered libertarian. I was always under the impression that 3rd party funding is directly correlated to the amount of people registered to the party.

dont register at all. all partys are part of the system and change will never happen as long as the masses accept and participate in this corrupt system of no choice. dem rep or third party are all jokes. REAL AMERICANS DONT VOTE

I recently changed my party registration from Democrat to Libertarian. Even though I'm pretty much cool with any Libertarian, I decided I'd rather register my support for the only party that represents my ideals than worry about voting in the primaries for the mainstream candidate who's less of a jackass than the other mainstream candidates.

i say choose non of the above by not voting. once the people stop accepting the system by doing things like this the system will loose all power and we will be able to take the power back and make true change by non violant means. because change is impossible from within the system, if you think otherwise the system has changed you

No if you don't vote all that will happen is:

"One vote for Martin, Two Votes for Martin. Martin wins!"

I think there has been a recent change...which allows you to vote in one primary even if your registered independent.

is 'major majority' your way of avoiding the fact that the majority already doesn't vote? you only need one vote to validate the election. The problem with your strategy is that you do not differentiate yourself in any way from merely the apathetic.

well the majority dosent vote but they still accept or participate in the system and its rules. the major majority needs to break free, that way we can over power the media lies, a simple majority can be shrunk by the media

I've signed up to work as an Elections Official, which force you to register as Democrat or Republican. I had a hard time with this, but picked democrat b/c i had to.

Though i'm registered as such for Election Official purposes, i do not believe i am on my voter registration in itself. Which i believe is a good thing.

I refuse to vote party lines. Sometimes a Rep looks good, sometimes a Dem (or a lesser evil). Local, state, and senate/house elections.. i'll probably vote 3rd/indie all the way..mostly green and libertarian.. depending on who's running. I'm after the best man currently up for the job.. not kissing some group's ass.

As opposed to getting smacktards like Kerry elected? If you like the statist quo, vote for either Kerry or Bush, because that is what you will get.

Not that i like either one, but the differences between the two, though might not be grand.. are enough for many. Though the gap between the two is shrinking everyday as Kerry attempts to take more attention to grab "middle america".

I don't particularly like McCain in the grand scheme of things.. but if he ran against.. say Hilary in 08.. he'd probably get my vote.

Kerry is no prize either, I will admit. But he's better than 4 more years of Dubya. And you must admit that not voting or voting for an irregular candidate will have pretty much the same effect as voting for one of the "big two".

It does and it doesn't. The 3rd party situation is a catch 22. I'd take almost anything rather than another 4 years of Bush. Cobb, Nader, and Badnarik to me are far superior to the main choices we have. If you don't vote for them.. how will they win, how will that party every win? If you do vote for them.. be prepared for more hell.

The way that i see it.. social conservatives would win every single time if the liberal vote started splitting. Alot of Democrats.. are libertarians in values.. or Green.. or love Nader. ALot of fiscal conservatives that normally go republican would vote Libertarian. With this current setup..If everyone voted the conscience, Republicans would win everytime. And with a few exceptions.. to me that'd be a horrible thing. Far worse than Democrats all the time.

Indeed, indeed. I would like to see more parties in the running as they have in the European countries. Unfortunately, the two party system is so damned firmly entrenched, it'd take a miracle to dislodge them. Sad to say, but I'm choosing the lesser of two evils. Truly, I wish I had more of a choice...
