Alright, I have decided to order some Peyote from ebay and just have a few questions. First, If I'm ordering live plants, is there a pretty good chance customs would confiscate it? Now with MJ seeds, they just confiscate it and then send you your package with a note saying that the contents was confiscated...and that's it, nothing more. Does it work the same way with a live peyote plant?
Also, I've heard paypal can give you problems if your ordering things that...well, you shouldn't be ordering. I'm guessing where the person lives who sells then peyote, they are legal, but since I'd be ordering them to the United States, would paypal give me some problems (cancel my order, or something like that)?
I guessing seeds would probably be easier to get through customs then live plants and I could always just get seeds but I would much rather get the live plant instead. Hey, US government, why so much hate towards good old peyote??

If you're ordering from another country, chances are good it'll be inspected and confiscated. If it's just from state to state, it might go through.
As for PayPal, I wouldn't trust them any further than I could throw them....
If you do get your Peyote, a word of warning - it tastes naaaaaasty but the trip is well worth it!

Anyone know if seeds usually get through as long as the package isn't blatenly labeled something like "peyote seeds"? I'd think they'd be easier to get through than MJ seeds since they're so much smaller and most people who know MJ seeds can recognize them pretty easily. I'm sure they're on the lookout more for that stuff since weed is so common. Anyways, it would suck if I just wasted $10 so that customs could confiscate my stuff, cuz i just bought some seeds :-P

Seeds will absolutely get through. Cactus seeds are almost impossible for almost anyone but an expert to identify. Theres a ton of people who get it through successfully.

Well that's good news about the seeds . With the live plants, I'm not talking about your average 10-12 inch cactus cutting, these are small cactuses, were talking cm here. What sucks is, many ebay users only use paypal, and so that doesn't leave me any other options except to use paypal

paypal doesnt generally go after the buyer, it will freeze the account of the seller. Still, paypal is a scam and I hate them
Make sure when they send you your cactus that is labelled as something that isn't alive and thus give a reason for customs to 'hold' it. as usual, dont expect a refund if it doesnt get through, it is against the law afterall and the business you order from will probably laugh at you for trying

Do you have a link to examples of why paypal is a scam? I use it occasionally with no problems but I would like to know if there could be.

aside from it being illegal in the states it is an endagered plant. needs other paperwork to be legal in ANY international exchange.
seeds are good if your patient.
it would probably be much less risky and in the long run better to order it within your country. i jsut had a package searched by customs in it and it turns out there was something illegal in it (although we didnt know), but it got through fine. even looked like drugs. but a peyote plant would most certainly get nabbed.

Sowing cacti is not difficult, but it does require a special technique
MushMush has a nice explanation here , or you can search the cactus archives at thenook.org for info.

I was looking around the net for Lophophora seeds and found a place in New Mexico that sells. Would it be safe to order these seeds directly to my house? Or should I get a PO box? I really shouldnt have any fear about this, I mean thats how they want us to react... ...right?
I find it interesting this garden sells peyote and its in the states, wonder whats protecting their head!

maybe they are a member of the church? or maybe a government setup to bust you?
personally i wouldnt...you can probably find seeds cheaper from euro companies anyways, less risk imo.
be carefull.

San Pedro is a safer bet. I believe it is not as controlled as peyote (at least in the UK - not sure about US).
It is also the fasted growing of all cactii!
