problem with the top casing layer..
    #3170690 - 09/23/04 04:03 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

hi guys i have a problem all the time with my casing layer. dont tell me to try a new casing olayer, just tell me why this happens.
i have a not fine vermiculite (big pieces) and the myc (maaany days after incubating) is just poking through the verm with difficulty.
P.S. The top layer is very thin...

maybe i should grind the verm to a more fine version?
thank you

Actually you dont want fine pieces because the smaller the particle, the more compact they can be. where did you get your verm from cause im looking for the big pieces...lol

I bought a large bag of course vermiculite at a garden center nearby. If something calls for finer vermiculite, I just throw it in the coffee grinder and pulse once or twice. seems to work great.
