The Kleptones invite you to... "A Night At The Hip-Hopera"
    #3170120 - 09/23/04 03:29 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Yet another hip-hop mash-up album, this time a mix of various artists backed by  Queen hits.  There was some pretty divided opinion over the last album I linked to (The Grey Album),  but I prefer this one overall.

The choice of vocals over some tracks isn't always fantastic, but even then the ever-present sounds of Queen quite literally carry the album in places.  I think it's a testament to their music that this still sounds good even without Freddy Mercury's voice and lyrics.

The album really starts to find itself about 30 mins in (Under Pressure has to be one of the most re-mixable songs ever) and shortly after there is an inspired Beastie Boys section.  The whole album is also interspersed with sound clips from Queen interviews, films (Ferris Bueller pops up often) and hip-hop commentary among other things.  It's a pretty fun 78 minutes.

It's packaged as a single mp3, with a zip file on this page and also a torrent link.

The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.
