Pressure Cooker Question
    #3165288 - 09/22/04 04:47 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I'm going out tonight to buy my first pressure cooker. I don't want to get one too big (I'll sacrifice time to do the jars if I can save money) so what I'm looking for is one that will fit two quart jars at a time. I know the cookers themselves say an amount of quarts, but I don't know how many actually jars will fit. Thanks for the help.

Most medium sized pc's will fit at least one quart or four pints. Display models are helpful... make sure they are big enough to fit the jars you wish to use. A pc that fits 2 quarts will cost a bit more than a pc that fits one quart.

I would recommend going to Wal-mart. I got a 6 qt that perfectly fits 2 1qt jars and it was only like $30.

I went to my local Wal-Mart and they didn't have any. I'm going to have to try the mall. I'm just going to bring a quart jar with me to check.

Check the canning section of hardware stores like Ace.

i got a 6 quart and it fits really tight, you have to postion the jars just right for the lid to close, and no room to lay them down

On ebay I got a Mirro 25qt for like $50. Its 20 bucks more than walmart but save a lot of time. If you really want to save money go to a thrift store or ebay.
