varieties
    #3164058 - 09/22/04 11:38 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I dont know if this has been answered somewhere else but i tried my best to find something and couldnt so dont hate me for repeating people if that's what i'm doing:

I bought my first batch of fresh shrooms recently from a shop in london and they had several varieties available. things like mexican truffles, mexican, thai, names like that, in english. whereas here, the names are the latin names. now were they selling different varieities of cubensis or different species of psylocibin (or however u spell it, i havent remembered it yet)?

If anyone could give me a short list of the varieties available with BOTH the latin and the english names, that'd be really helpful.

PS we bought thai. fabulous :0)

welcome to the shroomery

mexican, thai, golden teacher, equador etc are all Psilocybe Cubensis they only slightly differ in potency. Cubensis are the most common shrooms.

the mexican truffles (the 'truffles' are calles sclerotia actually. truffles is just a popular smartshop name fr them) are sclerotia from Psilocybe Mexicana. sometimes calles philosophers stones too (these can be sclerotia from Psilocybe Tampanensis too).

Sometimes you can get Hawaiians at a smartshop and these are Paneolus Cyanescens. (there's also a Cubensis called PES Hawaiian, don't let this confuse you.)

I hope I made things clear
