OK, what is the latest and greatest website for getting free music and video downloads?? I understand Kazaa is useless..

I use Limewire. You pay a single registration of about 20 bucks, then you can download millions of free audio tracks / videos /midis / mp3s / documents / etc, etc. It's shareware.

kazaa isnt useless. you can use the old versions of kazaa, lite. though i still dont use it too much.

It depends on what kind of music you're looking for. If you want legal(ish) downloads of live music shows, then archive.org is where you want to go. Here's another thing that you should look in to, http://bittorrent.com/introduction.html, because it's a way cool idea! There are some other really great sites that have very high quality downloads available, but I can't think of them right now. My boyfriend is the real music whore, I'll have to ask him :wink:

I still use Kazaa Lite. Works fine for me, and haven't found many songs that I want that it doesn't have. (Save for underground tunes)

Here's what I think of the RAA (record association of america)

Not only should stupidity hurt, but so should capitalizing on the work of others. I.E. Musicians who have been exploited since the record industry came to be and people realized there was money in it.

Musicians should be receiving that 90% of the profit, not the company who produces them. So, maybe after the MP3 era is over, or atleast the free part of it, and the record industry dies after all of us shut off it's life-blood (cd sales, etc) then musicians will come out on top with a system like Apple is putting out for the IPod.
