Anyone using marijuana for medicinal purposes?

Hey everyone - I have a team project to do in school and my group decided our topic would be Medical Marijuana. I would love to get an interview w/ someone who uses marijuana (legal or illegally - no names will be used - i'll make it up - John Doe or John Smith - or you make up your own name)... I just need to get a person to tell me how it helps them on a medical basis.

sleep.  i used to have insomnia bad, now i still do but no where near what it used to be.  i CAN actually get to sleep now.  i also have really sore knees, which it helps with.  i also tend to not eat when i work.  it is really bad as i usually get very sick and dizzy halfway through the day.  i dont get stoned during work, but the night before it allows me to eat somthing in the morning.

i aint legal though :frown:  if only...

Fibromyalgia and an unknown digestive disorder similar to Chrons disease. Relieves joint, muscle, and nerve pains in my shoulders, legs, and neck. I can actually eat when I smoke with my digestive disorder, and certain strains can immediately stop spastic pains. WIll be glad to answer more specific questions if you have them, on medical growing, etc.

I used to live each and every day with a migrane for almost all of my childhood. Headaches occur every once in a while, migranes are pretty rare fortunately. Marijuana helps to alleviate the pain immensely!! In the past nothing worked by drinking water, and sometimes a little bit of caffeine would help.

Marijuana's great for releiving pressure in joints as well. I have a bad ankle, partly due to skateboarding, but whenever anything swells on my body marijuana cuts it in half.

Eating? Well damn, I can't say that I have an eating disorder, but whenever I'd get migranes I'd lose my appetite. I wouldn't eat for days. I still have an appetite problem, stress seems to trigger it. If it weren't for toking after work, I'd probably go whole days without eating.. blech. Not cool.

I self-medicated anxiety for almost 4 years with marijuana. Why frantically bite your nails and let your head go nuts (thus physiological symptoms - rapid heartbeat, I'm sure blood sugar..) when you can just smoke a bowl?

how about an interview of someone who is close family with a medical user. could offer a different perspective maybe...my uncle is a cali medical cannabis user. i got to tell you, its great.

Heh, it's funny. I don't even have to smoke marijuana all the time for it to 'alleviate' my anxiety. Just blaze a couple times a week and it seems to keep me nice and relaxed for an extended period of time. But I don't do it so much that it'd harm me to quit cold turkey.

i was for insomnia and chronic pain. etc. But something happened after a few years of use and it started doing more harm than good so i had to stop. Sucks a lot. Still dunno why. Buy anyway, I used it medicinally as well as recreationally.

First off, I smoke marijuana because I like it, and it's my body.  Being arrested for it is rediculuous, it is a consentual crime, meaning it only hurts yourself, if anybody.

But, I had mono a few years back and couldn't eat at all.  After managing to choke down half a joint I could eat again and the pain in my throat subsided for the remainder of the buzz.

My day to day use is a little different.  Usually I get high after work (not before or during) while relaxing and watching tv or playing a game.  Most of the time if I know I have to go somewhere in the next hour I won't smoke because I don't like the red/half-shut eyes it causes.  I also use it as a sleeping aid as many others have posted before me.  It helps me relax and fall into a much more refreshing sleep, I usually wake up feeling like $100 bucks so to speak.

On the reference to migraines.  I still get them, and have smoked to help lower the amount of pain they cause.  Marijuana never really takes mine away, it just gives me an altered state where I can usually divert all my attention to something else and forget that it hurts for around 30 minutes.  My migraines have been known to last up to 72 hours, so marijuana is not a plausible treatment for them.

I have also had a decline in marijuana use as I've gotten older.  It alters my thoughts and now around 80% of the time I smoke I get odd thoughts that don't settle well with me.  Note I've only smoked for 8 years.

I use it daily to releave stress... I have two young kids and they drive me up the fucking wall sometimes... I get home from work, smoke a little, and I mean a little. Like tear the tip off the bud and smoke that. For the rest of the night all the times that I know I would have snapped the fuck out. But insted I am calm, cool and collected. I handle situations with better thought as the anger/emotion response is diluted. Works like a charm everyday. I just wish I knew more about getting it from the DR.

I've never tried it (gasp) but I'm thinking I might if all this nasty joint pain in my hands doesn't go away. Almost makes me wish I haven't been playing guitar and typing at the computer almost my whole life.

It's weird, I have no real objections to doing drugs in the general sense, I havent' really tried much mainly because I'm lazy and anti-social. When it comes to addressing actual pain/ailments I get "gun shy" or something and find myself avoiding them. Weird eh?

whatever it takes  :sun:

when ya do i wouldnt do a lot.  if i smoked teh same amount at one time i do now back tehn i would probably never do it again.  i generally start seeing stuff differently at about 3/4 of a gram.  i wouldnt of kept doing it if i did that back then.  too scary.
