Jar preparation smell?

Just wanted to know...
When boiling the pf 1/2 pint jars (made with verm. and brf) do they smell at all? Will my kitchen smell when boiling them in a pot for 1 hour? Thanks...

i always notice a rice-y smell, just like cooking rice. kinda faint.
