Diets that work for you?
    #3142888 - 09/16/04 09:18 AM (19 years, 6 months ago)

So everyone has a different body and that requires different diets. By diet - I am talking about not just losing weight but maintaining weight.

For me - I stick with a vegetarian diet just to maintain my weight. I'm at a point now where I want to lose a few pounds so I am eating 1000 calories a day for the first week and then going up to 1,500 calories a day after that.

It's all about soup, green tea, Kashi Go Lean breakfast shakes and uhm... fruits. hehe.

I drink coffee in the morning lots of cream lots of sugar, I then have a beer for lunch. With maybe a couple hotdogs. Then I eat dinner around 930. Then more beer. Then I gorge my self at the quickcheck on a 12inch sub. Then I go home and pass out.

Thats sheiks stayin sexy in the woods diet.

Or most often I am doing whats called the Warrior Diet. One meal a day normaly diner, as much as you care to eat.

I've always had trouble with my weight. You need to do a little research into what weight you should be for your height/sex. Then determine what the proper caloric intake is for you and your lifestyle. 1500 calories per day is considered a diet for most people.
Here's what I did:

Eat a 40:40:20 diet - 40% of your calories from carbs, 40% from protein, and 20% from fat. Theres a great website out there that can help you do this:

www.fitday.com

it allows you to enter all your food that you eat into a database and it will calculate for you what your percentages are and allows you to set goals. It will take a little determination on your part and before long you'll become a bit of a calorie counter but it's worth it in the long run - you'll learn approximately what you can and cannot eat, but it doesn't feel like a diet - more like you're educating yourself on proper nutrition that you can keep applying to your life long after you've met your goals...

hope this helps

1000 calories is way to low, figure out your caloric needs

weight in kg ( total body weight ) x 24 / lean factor x activity level
lean factor 1.0 = under 10% .95 =10-14% .90 = 14-20% .85 = 2-=28%
activity level 1.3 = very light 1.55 = light 1.65 mod 1-2 hr. training a day

so if you weigh 200 lbs. 10 % bf and train 2 hr. a day aver.
90.9 ( lbs. in kg) x 24 (2181) x 1 ( lean factor) 2181 x 1.65 ( al)
3600cal a day

Drop 500-800 calories off your estimated, and see how much you lost in a week, aim for 2 lbs a week, this will minimize muscle loss. If you didn't lose anything, then take off another 500. The key is to drop gradually, if you shock your system with 1000 calorie a day diet, your body will go into starvation mode and catabolize your muscle and store fat, and your metabolism will slow down to a crawl.

eating less calories isn't the right way to do it I think. if you're going to eat more again later the pounds will add up quicker than you lost then, up to your usual weight.
Better eat good and exercise more
eating too little is bad

Once I had to lose 40 pounds

Never been on a diet before.
Did no research, it would have took weeks anyway.
To much bullshit

Here's what I did.

I ate nothing but popcorn and vitiamns. Lots of water

Salt and pepper. Mabey some olive oil.

I also swam everyday for half an hour

67 days later 40 pounds less.

After that I just ate healthy and balanced. I have never had the weight return.

well, i'm a tad on the skinny side and what i'm trying to do is gain mass. so basically, i'm on a high calorie diet and a eat alot of everything. it's really not that easy to try and get the right amount of calories i need in the right way - like not loading up on oreos just cause they have more calories. it's working, but slowly.

i'm pretty satisfied with my results so far.

Yeah is that why I keep up on the exercises.
I gained several inches of muscle mass.

I don't know why say what you say. But I was never more fitt after thoses few months. As a matter of fact my nice and very fitt body was part of meeting my wife.

I stated above that I have done no reasearch. I only said what worked for me.

It worked. I gained alot of muscle

I worked very hard.

I would do it again
