Does ps cyan mycel grow rhizomorphicaly on mea? I was looking at a Petri and its lumpy and a tad cottony, no thick rhizos like cubes on agar.

No rhizos, no. But the growth is rather thick and linear usually, depending on the agar formulation.

I've also noted the linear tomentose type growth which is normal. I've started it on MEA also then to rye--> cardboard--> alder chips. I've had better success with PF style jars with sawdust/wheatbran and a syringe though.

Agar for isolation rye for it's many inoculation points for the cardboard then trays were filled halfway with chips the colonized sheet was laid on top of that and the trays were filled with chips for the remaining space. That was the oldtimers way way back when! Now it's PF style sawdust/bran then these are dumped into large bags of hardwood chips and these are left to colonize during the summer and dumped in late summer, much simpler (KISS).

Cold weather species are rather slow growing compared to warm weather species. The agar media looks to be MEA (malt extract agar). Those dishes tahoe look heavenly BTW! WTG!!!

the petri dish is to isolate a strong, healthy strain. i can also isolate contams with it. The spores for this were from a wild specimen
