Are my jars looking ok?
    #3118618 - 09/10/04 01:08 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

I used BRF and Verm....it's been almost 2 weeks. keep them on a heating pad in a rubbermaid at 86 deg F most of the time.

Thanks in advance.

Looking great man! The one in the top picture on the left looks like it got a little clumpy at the bottom due to too much water... mabe I'm just seeing things. Oh, and if you want to get that bottom to hurry up, try turning it upside-down(sp?).

Maybe you should consider a grow log in the grow forum. I'd love you watch your progress! Good luck man.

Next time you post a pic, take a pic of the bottoms. Also in the bottom pic it looks like an hr glass. B4 you birth the cake make sure you dunk it so it can rehydrate. Once the cakes are at 90% or more you can put them in the fruiting chamber(unopend). This will help jump start the pinning. Also look up double end casing. It's just a fancy name for putting moist verm(1tsp) on top and underneeth you cake. Works wonders. Keep up the good work bro. Peace

The verm that's used for the double-end case should be put in the microwave for 3 mins before use?

Also, when you say "before you birth the cakes make sure you dunk it so it can rehydrate" Do you dunk the jar in water or the cake itself? If it's the cake itself, then it wouldn't be before birthing would it? Is the cake/jar just that--dunked in cold water for a few seconds?

You need to dunk it under water for quite a while (24 hours generally) for a real revitalizing swim.

If you're using the PF-Tek take the dry vermiculite off the top of your cake, and then dunk. You don't want over-saturated vermiculite sitting on your cake.

GL with your grow!

SCIOpenEyedDream, are you saying that the tape should be removed while the jars are in the incubation stage?

yes. they should be. in fact, the tape should have been taken off when you innoculated. I just leave it off after that, it doesn't serve any purpose after that. you leave it on when it's cooling because when the whole thing cools, it could suck in some contams because of the temp. change... after that, the verm. should be plenty to keep the contams away.
