shrooms in mass
    #3155804 - 09/20/04 03:11 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

first of all, hi to everyone, and good boomin!

i haven't been able to find any shrooms to buy recently, so i went out hunting. first time i've ever hunted for shrooms. seeing as i live in mass, this isn't suprising. in any case i could use some help iding some i found in my backyard.

this one was found at the base of a small pine tree. the soil is very rich. pine and oak and beech grow in the area. the area is a raised hump surrounded by "wetlands" (around here we are to stuck up to call it swamp).

this isn't the clearest pic. these shrooms were again found at the base of a pine. the cap of the one in the upper left hand corner is all red, the white is the flesh.

thats it for now. i'd really appreciate any help anyone can give.

That red one in the second pic looks like a chewed up russula. Hard to be totally sure though just viewing it from that angle.

EDIT: forgot to mention, it could be one of the poisonous russulas (one of the red species is listed as poisonous).
