These are my cacti. I was wondering the dosage? The top # on the ruler is 24 inches. The thin part in the middle is where I left them out one summer and they didnt get enough water.

yea they definitely need sunlight and ferts pretty crazy growth though. I'd say since they were skinny to take an 18" cutting

Yeah, but these things are tiny! I really don't think 12 inches would have an effect.

I think Harvey is right. They will never fatten up so cut them up and start new plants. Cut them into 6" pieces, let them callous over, lay them on their sides in the soil and wait for roots. You'd need about 3' to have a good trip. Once they get skinny like that you will never have a normal looking plant. Next time give them lots of sun, water and ferts.

What if I cut them all down to about 6 inches and prepare the cuttings. Shall I move my mind with that? I will start over with the original plants.

If you're so insistant.... you might be able to get off..... not making any guarantees though....
you can actually see mescaline in the base of older trichocereus, its a specific pattern of round, dotted, frostiness underneath the skin. And yours are kind of...lacking in that department.... (maybe I'll post an example of it some day if I can find one... my collection of pics got lost in the great comp crash of august)

After I cut how do I increase the width of the base? Also I have a variety of spots on the cacti. Some are brown and look like they ooze some sort of black stuff. Some are tiny light green dots, but ot many of those.

See how frosty this guy is? Look at the base though....
Not the hard water spots, but look at the pores of the cactus....

The section in between the thin part and the light green part look like that. Yours are very thick. How did the base get that thick? I fertilize and water but there is only vertical growth. How long did yours take to get that big?

cacti grow thin when grow with not enough sun. Put them near a large south facing window for winter and outside in the yard or on a balcony or window.

Yes I too have noticed a 'frosty' or 'cloudy' appearance to some of my more mature healthy cacti. Even noticed a significant blue tinge to it sometimes, pretty nifty. However, I beleive this to be simply a sign of a healthy specimen, rather than actual mescaline itself. Considering you need about a foot of cactus just to get 500mg or less of mescaline, and that mescaline comes from the few millimetres under the skin and not only directly under the skin itself, then the mescaline must be so diluted that it I think it would be impossible to see. The other thing is I've seen plenty of non-active cacti gaining this appearance as well. And to AhHaHaHa, I'd say you're going to need at least 36 inches of those cacti for any kind of psychoactive effect, and even at that much you might not get much. Oh and elgr, your pedro needs to be in a WAY bigger pot!! If you leave it in that one it will show pretty crappy growth and it will slow down or even stop growing. They need a healthy large root system, and plenty of light, water, and nutes (don't over fertilize though, follow instructions on a bottle of liquid organic fertilizer, those are usually high in N and its harder to burn your cacti with them)

I was surprised it was that size in such a small pot! Time for a new one and it looks awesome by the way
