First time at this and cant tell whether or not the stuff growing is mycelium or cobweb. Also, i put a peroxide mix on the green mold on the sides, and was wondering if there is someway you can tell if it is dead and would green mold in one part of the aqaurium destroy the whole thing?

cobweb + some black mold. expect trich soon too.
Toss that shit.
Also, you'll probably have better luck with coarse vermiculite. That stuff looks pretty fine.

Agreed, it's doomed.  Even if the one spot of green mold stops growing it's quite likely to creep up in other spots.  Rather than wrestling with it and potentially getting mold spores everywhere, try that outdoor experiment you've been meaning to get to
