Panaeolus subbalteatus Pictorial

Well here are 24 photographs on two pages of the spring and early fall mushroom Panaeolus subbalteatus.

This species is common in rotted hay and compost heaps and sometimes fruits directly in manure, but only rarely in the US.

On Maui Island in the hawaiian archiplego this mushroom at the 3000 meter altitude of Haleakala vocano fruits very abundantly in manure but not so well at sea level.

Hi Mitchnast,

only a few of those Panaeolus images, the ones already in a grassy area wehre growing in a cow pie.

All of the others came from haystacks in Corvalis and Eugene, Oregon. ANd the one in grass with about five shrooms or so is from Oahu in Hawaii.

I hope to get it mentioned in the Guiness Book of world Records for the largest colelction of psilocybian photographs in the world in one spot.

Looks good.

Mj, one thing i noticed, is that not all of the pics can be clicked on and enlarged..

And now I go for nature walk and there is a good chance I will not find a single piece of mushrooms.. we'll see

The larger pictures at the top of each species pages are not meant to be clicked on to enlarge. I usually put below the large image Click each image below to enlarge or something to that effect.

Ind you find ones which do not click on below the heading then let me know and I will take care of the proiblem.

Those pictures are strictly for informational use only, not to be reckoned some entertainment capacity was ever held withforth. Now, I couldn't get those pictures, it said NO, so, that's about the entertainment value I got from em. Mushroom hunting is entertainments, no digital camera can get me so hog wild about what grows in the pasture.

I saw about 500 mushrooms yesterday.
I was walking a almost completely dried up stream..most of the mushrooms were tiny ones, but they were familiar.

Even better, I found a green a black backpack!
-It was empty, and in laying there in the middle of nowhere?
So I took it and was happily on my way, as ive wanted a backpack for mushroom hunting for a while now.
Its green and black, and its a nice one too
