hello all I just got back from hunting around in PA and I've found a spot where there are tons of gymnopilus growing, however, I am unsure of the difference between spectabillius and ventricosus, would anyone be so kind to elaborate on that? thank you very much. Ill post pics when i find my usb cable for my camera.

Unfortunaly, I don't believe those
are G. Spectabilis.. or any gymnopilus...
The decurrent gills and color would suggest o. olerius...
or a similar species... It's hard to pin them
down.... a spore print will be helpful to determine
the species they are....

Keep looking you will find them.. They are everywhere
up here in Rhode Island......I have the best luck just
walking the dog on the side of the road and looking
a few feet off into the woods...or even in old growth yards
in the lawn under maple and oak.... Nofindum.....
