PM Entheoindole he is a practitioner of said craft.

They use regular potting soil and like warm temps. They can take cold down to freezing and will survive lower temps but may lose some leaves and branches. Have been known to survive in the teens and the roots grew back next season. They like humidity and frequent watering. I use peter's 20 20 20 and they like some every week or two. They aren't super fast growing but my 4 plants I put outside a little over a year ago in pots are each bushes now. I have berries forming but they are still green.

I've seen quite a few references to P. virirdis liking highly acidic soil.
As far as my experience goes; I use regular potting soil and I use fish emulsion as a fert. I water often. I live in the extreme south so the weather is sub-tropical. They do well down here!
These plants are pretty tough though! They are fairly easy to grow.

Great .... thanks for the info..Do you know how to differentiate between Psychotria Carthagenensis and Psychotria viridis. I have some small plants that I was sent, that are mixed, and being inexperienced with these plants I have no clue what to look for..Any other help would be appreciated..  :smirk:

viridis flowers are red, carthaginensis are white.
the shape of the leaves is different, carthaginensis leaves are short and stubby.

My psychotria viridis flowers were small and white. I haven't had flowers yet from my carthagenesis so I can't say about them. I agree on the shape of the leaves. Carth leaves are rounder at the tips than viridis. Both species are potent.

My P.v's have white flowers also. The best way to ID them is by the shape of the leaves.
