Temps got too hot?
    #3153026 - 09/19/04 03:24 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys,
Just checked on things and the temp was way too hot too hot, like 30 degrees?! Are things ruined? Should I rehydrate and drop the temp and then reincubate? Leave them alone? Not sure, thanks for the help...

Ya man for sure, it was too hot, but it was ambient, didn't feel that hot inside tubs....they are still incubating and the straw still seems damp, any ideas?

If it dies (turns yellow) you can try to just let it keep going, but if it hasn't died, you're fine.

Nature fluctuates all the time, I wouldn't be too worried.

I think I'm being a little paranoid too...they were allowed to cool down overnight in a dark spot and are being reincubated now...if growth slows do you think the straw should be fruited a bit earlier? The straw is getting pretty close to full colonization, but I think they should just be left and allowed to fully colonize, but just wondering if there was any other opinions/experiences around. Thanks guys

Wait for full colonization before fruiting.

Do you mean.. 30 degrees over optimal temperature? That's pretty hot. If I remember from the reading I've done, mycelium dies at about 105?F.

If you mean 30?C .. that's 86?F. Nothing to worry about, AFAIK.

86 degrees is perfect!!! Definitely nothing to worry about just keep it there for the duration of the substrate run and you'll be golden.
