you want to keep these much cooler than cubes, not in an incubator like was suggested. mine are growing fine at room temperature in jars of woodchips.

ive been pretty lax with sterilization. i started them in mycobags and then just spawed that directly to soaked woodchips, with no precautions and my bare hands and will momentarily be transfering them to their final bed of woodchips.

Sorry Azures are beyond me! One of the most advanced mushrooms to grow, havnt gotten into them or any of the wood lovers yet! Trying to master cubies first! I would go to a smaller place though, probably get a better deal. Just a little landscaping place or place that has firewood/gravel/mulch/woodchips/ect gardening center...that sort of thing. Not sure what you need to look for but fungusides will be bad so watch for them in case they put them in any wood chips! Maybe youll get a post from someone else with more experience with them! Good luck again!

P. azurescens colonizes standard pf tek jars in 3-4 weeks at room temperatures from spores.

Now that you said that I took pics from my jars and I wanted to show you something! The first pic show the jar from one side about the same look as earlier post at top of my jars.........2nd pic shows new growth from since being in my rubbermaid container on a heat mat but not directly on the mat off to the side maybe just getting jar warmth from the others innucbating!!!!
WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS?

WHY THE ABBUNDANT MYC GROWTH NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN

well, if they are growing faster with added heat there is a chance they arent azures... the optimal growing temp for them is in the mid 60s-low 70's with fruiting temps in the 50s. especially if you got them off ebay.

So during the summertime, in certain outdoor zones, when the temperatures are averaging 85F daytime, the azure mycelium grows very slowly? Or does it become dormant until more desirable temperatures are reached in the fall?

You should try fruiting one cake directly if you can spare it. In case they are cubies and dont take to the wood chips, you should get a specimen from the cake and if posted can EASILY be identified from eachother by the folks here.

Well, if they fruit from a cake that alone should prove they are not azures.
