Azurescens / wood chip tek/PICS

Ok I have done searches and went through the first 15 pages in the advanced section and I was still wondering in everyones opinion since I inocculated my Azurescens on Brf and they are colonizing fine!
But some has brought to my attention that Azurescens are a wood lover and that they will not friut for me on the brf!So my question to yall is should I take and case them out on a wood(adler)casing now 2nd and what should I cover the wood with ? 3r d Should I pressure cook and sterilize the adler or just soak in water? 4th should I PC the covering on my casing
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Are you doing an indoor only or outdoor? Indoor things will need to be sterile outdoor they do not your BRF can be used as spawn although the bugs and animals will want to get into it pretty badly so protecting it is important, I myself would wait to see if ya have any problems before worrying about pests though. GL and those jars deserve 5 shrooms!!!! very nice

I will be growing them indoors, Now on wood chips that are pc'd When you say "spawn" what do you mean plz? There are several terms I am still unfamiliar with. I still am unsure of what to do actually just crumble my cakes into smal pieces over the wood .....is that right ? And what should I cvr them in? what substrate verm? or what?

Place a layer of soaked chips down then spawn (crumbled cakes) then more soaked chips and by soaked we're talking days Azures do not need a casing layer.

Yes sir I used a and I used BRF and drilled 4 holes in my lid and I used 1/4 cc per hole and I watched it ease down the side of my jar! I was like because it took a while for the spawn to come on I left them in my garage in these warm days we have had lately and they come on strong! My 1 jar looks bad but doesnt smell still Sweet smell if any at all.

Thats great, man! I think I will try that. I always thought I couldnt grow them. This gives me hope. So let me get this straight, its pure BRF not like the PF tek? What was your colonization time so far? I see tape or someting in your picture. I wonder if tyvek filter would help colinization time? And hyphae, what do you think about a thin layer of wet verm over the top of the casing to keep moisture in and for protection? Would that be a good idea? Wood shavings or chips?

The myc looks like it's doing pretty damn good except for a couple jars. I doubt they'll fruit but I know they'll make great spawn for an OD, I have done Azures PF style with sawdust/bran but that doesn't fruit by itself so I also believe they more than likely will not fruit but just imagine if they did! I just like the idea of the "what if"!

P. azurescens colonizes standard pf tek jars in 3-4 weeks at room temperatures from spores.

I meant I doubted that he would get them to fruit, only because I remember him from his other thread and didnt relize that he had ordered a completly different species until it was already colonizing and he had gotten some responses. At least your spawning them to woodchips I wish you all the luck, if you get them to fruit to be carful they're like 2-3 times as potent as cubensis (the shrooms you usually see around like your other strain).

you will find that unless you can regulate temps indoors to the 50 to 60 degree range, you wont fruit the azurescens. best bet is to use your brf cakes to innoculate soaked alder, then transfer to the great outdoors. azures dont need a casing layer, but a nice layer of soaked straw or leaf litter over the top of your patch will help protect it from frost damage as well as help keep it moist. they need to be outside. years ago, I bought what was supposedly azure spores from jlf, and fruited indoors, but they were actually what is now known as the plantasia strain of cubensis.

Mine took close to 60 days to full col. that was using sawdust/bran now if I could cut that in half that would be a Godsend for sure! I fruited indoor during the winter in a poorly insulated sealed off bedroom using what a call my "Biodome". The room stayed at 55 degrees constantly (it is located in a bedroom on the northside of the house) And works perfect. This year it's all OD in zone 4 no less! Heres a pic of the Biodome which I've made fully automated. In the pic the hose hasn't been cut to length yet which is about 6-8in. above the substrate level.

Why? This is not P. cubensis! They won't colonize faster if the temperature is in the range that is optimum for P. cubensis.
