Ethnobotanical vs Entheobotanical
    #3150149 - 09/17/04 11:46 PM (13 years, 8 days ago)

Is "The Ethnobotanical Garden" a spelling error? Shouldn't it be eNthEobotanical? The description says entheo right?

"Ethnobotany is the study of plants used by specific cultures for various reasons. Ethnobotany is considered a new, yet vast science drawing upon the studies of ; Botany, Anthropology, Phytochemistry, Sociology, Medicine as well as Agriculture. The study of the ethnic uses of plant species is very important to modern medicine, agriculture and even the manufacturing industrial sectors of society. All of society is dependent upon plants and the products they produce. Ethnobotany often times evokes an image of the very far away, exotic tropics and Indiana Jones type researchers discovering new plants which have never been seen. In fact Ethnobotany can be as simple as the study of ?Cotton in the USA?, or ?the History of the Tomato?.

Entheogens on the other sides are specific ethnobotanicals with specific effect on the psyche, a "mind altering, psychedelic, spirit inducing, shamanistic substance".

So, technically the name of the forum currently gives room for more plants than are discussed there currently.
