Does light make the shrooms brake their vail sooner then if you didn't use light? And I see everyone put something on their cakes like vermiculite or something does this help a lot?thanks any help you and give.

There's no "if" to using light. If you don't give the cakes light, they won't pin.

Yes, most people roll their cakes in vermiculite after they dunk them.

I've noticed that however if you continue the 12 hour light cycle after they pin (12 hours for pinning is excellent though) that you end up with small shrooms then if you leave them in the dark for about 18 hours. 6 hours is still enough to make them grow up.

12on/12off to 16on/8off for pinning after that whatever works for ya. I do find light to have little to do with size IMHO what I have seen hundreds of times is the less shrooms competing for nutes the larger they are, you see size is directly related to the number of shrooms competing for those nutrients. I'm not saying light duration has no effect it's just that yields have been affected more by paying attention to the finer details such as getting the best pinset possible and keeping them well hydrated throughout the growth cycle as transpiration (FAE) also makes for larger fruits. Just FYI
