PC vs Boil Question

So, I plan on trying out some of that alien substrate that I mentioned in my last post.  I'm just wondering though, someone mentioned in another post that you CAN'T boil grain jars, that you need to PC them.

Is this true?

I can't boil my  alien substrate  jars to sterilize them?

Incase you need to know, the ingredients are as follows:

3/4 cup of quinoa (health food store)        NOT GROUND UP
3/4 cup long grain brown rice (grocery store) NOT GROUND UP
3 cups spring water
1 1/2 cups vermiculite (Wal-Mart)
1/4 cup finch seed (measured before grinding)
1/8 cup flax seed (measured before grinding)

That post was absolutely correct, you'll be riddled with contams if you try to boil it to sterilize. If money is a problem, you can get a pretty cheap one at wal-mart for like 23-30 bucks.

This may sound really dumb considering i'm coming up with it very late at night/early in the morning, but has anyone tried sterilizing jars (probably BRF would be best) by placing the jars in a big container with water in it and then just microwaving it for a couple of minutes?
