thats just one big block of shrooms. :) mmmm.
a relitively potent speceis. how does that yeild compair by weight to a simmilar effort with P. Cubensis? i immagine with potency factored in its better to heve the mexicanums, but just for curiosities sake what i specifically want to know (if possible)
in the same time frame, with the same sort of rescorces, grown by the same person (you) what would you have grown (by dry wiegt) in cubensis AND what is the dry weight of that flush and projected yeild of subsequent flushes? how re-usable is the spawn? can it be revived in a rehydration process with fresh casing? do you pick those or just take an icecream scoop to them :)

These mushrooms were grown from grass seed that was prepared by combining:
* 110 grams of grasseed
* 180 ml of water
in a 720 ml jar.
These jars sterilised for 1 hour in a pressue cooker. They were inoculated from agar wedges.
They were ment be for sclerotia production, and it first they seemed to grow very fast but the sclerotia stopped growing soon. We waited some more and decided to case them with standard casing soil.
No special humification was used as they grow in plastic bins, covered with plastic.

Looks great UNA. My invitro sclerotia bombed too. One jar actually formed rocks but they did not enlarge, the rest looked like yours, flattened against the jar. The form good on Agar, and in the casing layer of prefruiting casings. Nothing like those tampanensis.

NICE JOB!
Those caps are nice and dark...I bet they pack quite a sporeload. What is the origin of those spores? Are they the same as the sporeworks' Mex?
Congrats!

tHEY LOOK LIKE LIGHTLY TOASTED MARSHMELLOWS SMASHED UP AGAINST THE WALL OF THE JAR. cOVERED IN YELLOW OOZE. KIND OF!!!
they look like una's picture above invitro. those are aborts. they start but stop. the ones that don't abort start emassing size and dimension. they sweat alot!!!!!! the faster they grow the more they sweat. the color is yellow white with brownish tones. they are really wierd looking sometimes. they are very interesting to watch grow, as interesting if not more then watching a mushroom grow. i really like the tampanensis invitro and the mexicana in a casing. crazy about them both on a petri plate, sterile little rocks to store for the future. WHEN THEY START TO GROW THEY ARE EASILY RECOGNIZED. THINK OF THE BLOB, GROWING AND OOZING AND GROWING, BUT THINK OF A LIGHTLY TOASTED MARSHMELLOW SMASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE JAR WEDGED BETWEEN THE SEED AND THE GLASS.

Some of the caps are indeed producing reasonable sporeprints but most of the caps don't drop any spores. As soon as MushMush opens we will be able to sell these.
They are the same strain as Workmans. (Pajaritos)
We use 720 ml applesauce jars (cheapest there are LOL)

Excellent work Una! I salute your mycological skills. We are working on the invitro sclerotia problem and we think we have isolated a better strain that doesn't stall. This new strain has been developed from a different genetic line and shows a lot of promise.
Good luck in your vending endeavors!

In reply to:

I thought there was a darkness requirement for sclerotia growth. How do you watch them grow?

Darkness meaning you incubate them in darkness. Watching them, meaning removing them from there incubation box and viewing them. Don't worry they wont pin or stop because of short term exposure to the light in your room. You don't want to incubate them under light.
Una stated that the tampanensis sclerotia grew no matter what. Mine are in a box, so they only get light when I inspect.
P.S. I wasn't joking, they look like marshmellows, lightly tanned, smashed against the sides of the jar. Very interesting stuff.

Cool. I guess I got the wrong impression from something I read. I doubt I could go without peeking anyway. ;)
Anyone know if there's a substrate that works better for spore production?

How does screlotia compare to mushrooms in potency and trip quality? I also assume that screlotia is faster to produce and the procedure is simpler, is this correct?
