I'd like the thoughts of the experts on this... first off, has it been seen before, second, is it even feasible?

Ok... imagine I'm Scotty in that Star Trek movie where they went back in time to save the whales, in the scene where he's bargaining with the plexiglass man and offers up the secret to transparent aluminum... and I say, in my best scottish brogue... " Well, what if i could shooow ya how ta do et, wot would thot be worth to ya?" "here, let me punch up the matrix on the screen..." "Computer!.... computer? Ah, I have to use the keyboard, how quaint..." well, here ya go... It'll take years just to figure out the matrix! "Aye, but if ya did, ya'd be a rrrich maan, woodn't ya?" "Now, is that enough ta starrt a discussion, or should i just hit the delate botton?"

That came from a clone of a clone of a clone of a Ryche Hawk B+.
Substrate is a Mike O'Logical PFjar, straight unadulterated PF style BRF-vermiculite cake.

Honestly I don't know what to make of this.. i obtained four grams of this last night..I decided to eat half of it..It actually looks like a piece of mycelium at first glance.. I chewed it..and i have to say.. it was as hard as a rock..20 minutes after eating it I concluded.. that it wasn't just mycelium..there was barely any comeup and I compared it to eating an 1/8. of regular mush..Hardened potent non-fruitbodied mycelium...I have no idea what to make of it..

Jesus good god man thats fucking insane. Ive never seen anything like that at all. If your able to reproduce the results, would you be willing to share the secret of how to get Ps. Cubensis to produce Sclerotia? I mean im sure im not the only one who would love to see a tek on this.

I can tell you how I did it, but i can't say how it happened, i think it was just a funky mutation.

Cubensis often produces ill-defined blobs of tissue in culture. Although these are sometimes mistaken for sclerotia, they lack the ability to survive dessication. They also do not directly produce mushrooms when planted in soil after seperation from the mother mycelium. Cubensis pseudo-sclerotia appears to be nothing more than malformed mushrooms. Some strains are more prone to to produce these blobs which may be induced by mutation, environmental stress, virus infection or contamination.
Large pseudo-sclerotia have been reported in the button mushroom industry which can grow up to several pounds. Some attempts have been made to market slices of these large forms as a sort of a mushroom steak, but the mutant strains are unreliable under commercial cultivation conditions.
Psilocybe cubensis has never been reported to produce true sclerotia.

It also sort of looks like some of the "monster knots" I saw in another post, but larger. Except for the 'brain' one, that is just odd. And what about them being more potent (motaman's experience)?

Psilocybe mexicana is a different species than Psilocybe cubensis.

Oh, OK.
My bad, I was under the impression that they were just different strains.
Thanks.

The Thai strains tend to make these pseudosclerotia though Palenque also makes some funky dense clumps sometimes Dont have these anymore but i imagine its fairly common

Looks like some sort of mushroom "cancer", and your description of finding identifiable mushrooms bits inside make it sound even more like a tumor. Perhaps that's what it is.

i've gotten that a few times, it's just mutation, you said they were grown invitro? that will cause a lot of shrooms to grow like that. like when two developing caps touch they will fuse together but instead the shroom is just fusing to itself as it has no place to go and gets dense and funky looking. i doubt they are more potent than there equlivant weight in normal fruits from the same cakes. from a wild print to agar, agar, agar, wbs to horse poo that first pic you have looks like the michelin man having his way with the cake
