From the terrible pic. id say its looking good. However i am unfamillar with casings. but i believe that you want to avoid overlay. possibly sctrach? and then throw it back in the incubator. but let another more experienced person give you the specifics. but as far as i can tell its looking good.. your going to be blessed with nice pinsets!

The mycilium is well destributed and it looks like its growing strong! That casing is ready for fruiting!

Yea the quality isn't the greatest, but depending on how long it's been in the fruiting chamber, I would patch those big spots that are coming up. (If you put it in within the past few days)

looks good to me too.. just make sure you keep an eye on it, patch where needed (if you see lots of fluffy white popping out over the surface) and maintain good temperature/RH and you should have some nice pins soon.

Do NOT scratch. That is very extreame advice to give. It messes up the myc networks of a perfectly good casing. If it were me I would patch however (put dabs of casing mix on the myc comming up. You want to ONLY put the casing mix on the white (none around it) and put more on the thicker parts. This gives the rest of your casing a chance to catch up. Then spray it down and throw it in your fruiting chamber and wait.

Do you patch with dry casing, then spray, or moisten casing, then patch? Thanks for the info. This is my first time with this strain too, Cambodian, but I hear good things.

you forgot to mention the fact they could get contamed and you're DAMAGING the mycelium. not good.

patch, if anything. it looks good enough to me, but you could patch.

This guy I know mixes his coir/verm and gets some moisture in it before patching - not alot!, then a light mist and back in the oven she goes.

:mushroom2:Good luck with them Cambos:mushroom2:

I didnt mention it because neither are true statments. Patching and misting will not contaminate your casings (especially if you use a light h202 mixture properly sterilized casing mix). Of course they COULD get contamed, there is always a chance to get contams. It is no higher of a chance from a correct misting though.

Also you are not damaging the mycelium at all. Not only because your not directly spraying mycelium (you just patched and covered it all remember) but dont forget, it rains in nature (where mushrooms are) and what comes up after rain (mushrooms) so why would you think water would harm mycelium? To much maybe but light mistings are fine, I do it all the time. To much h202 on myc can also harm it but a small amount is fine. We are only spraying the casing to moisten it more (near saturation).

And yes you do use moistened casing mix to patch, not dry.

i was referring to scratching overlay. if you read my whole post, you'll realize i say he could patch at the end part of it.

if he's going to scratch the overlay, he could be embedding contamination into the overlay. he's also hurting the mycelium. both of those statements are true. you just didn't read my post carefully enough... but i forgive ya.
