This is Friggin Difficult
    #3144900 - 09/16/04 08:11 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I am trying to educate myself, but am getting very frusturated. My main beef is that each specimens of shrooms from the same species can look SO different. I beginning to think I should just switch over to the cultivation forum....But for God's sake I am living in the Southeast - I know they are out there...taunting me

starting out is always daunting, your not alone.

Firstly familiarize yourself with the many online resources and even consider getting some field guides too, soon you'll be comfortable with the process...alot of the problem lies in the terminology, with times this becomes much less confusing.

just as important is learning how to ID and then recognize some of the common poisonous genera.

it does require some patience and good observation but all the effort will pay of ten-fold in the end

Good luck.

It's like playing guitar, if you can get thru the first agonizing 3 months, you're on the home stretch. The hardest part is the very beginning.

True that, true that.

I've not really switched over to the cultivating forum, just migrated a bit. Those guys are great and will really take care of you if you want to grow. The guys here are also really cool, they know what they're doing.

Just be humble and willing to learn, and you'll go far.

The irony is that I am steeped in guitar theory. If anyone is interested in jazz/harmony theory - I'd be happy to jam with you. When taught properly, it's not so rough. With that siad, I realize that the path is endless and the beginning is the hardest. The 1st mile is the hardest mile. I live in Augusta, Georgia. LET"S JAM
