Bittorrent seriously pisses me off...
    #3143275 - 09/16/04 01:09 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

It used to work really good now it works like SHIT.

Tell me why there are 539 seeders but I am only connected to 7 of them?

I have ports 6881-6999 open in my router so whats the prob?

Using Azureous client, upload speed set to 13kbps which is half of my upload max.

Sounds like you're doing everything right. I usa Azureus too so I don't think the client is the problem. Here are a few suggestions:

This was going to be my first suggestion, but you're on top of it. There are only a couple other things I can think of. First, Azureus only needs one port open so you don't need to open that whole range. Second, because some ISPs block the standard BitTorrent ports, I suggest using a non-standard port for Azureus (I use 56881). Also, make sure you have your router set to forward TCP packets (not just UDP, although if you're forwarding both it should also work).

Other than that, if you're running XP make sure the built-in firewall isn't blocking the BitTorrent port. Update to the latest version of Azureus and the Java JRE if you haven't already. Maybe bump up your upload speed to ~3/4 of your maximum. Make sure to go for the torrents with the greatest seeder:leecher ratio, not just with the most seeders.

Also remember that you download from other leechers too. Even if you're only connected to 7 seeders, if you have 100 connections to leechers your download speeds should be just fine.

If I had to bet money on it though, I'd say it probably is a port forwarding problem and you should make sure all your network settings are correct. When you download torrents, do you get the little green smiley face or does it stay yellow all the time?

-Y

Gettin a green smiley face right now. I switched my ports around cuz I read a lot of providers block the standard 6881-6999 now. Plus I upped my upload rate....it's still not nearly as fast as it should be though, averages about 135kbps. I used to get around 300kbps usually. 19 seeders connected, 506 in swarm. Why can't I connect to more seeders!
