wow... that sucks... your cakes are fucked yes. Get everything out throw it away or bury it out side. growing invitro may prevent this but their isnt any real way except for being steril and allow no openings for the gnats to get in. That sucks dude alot...

yo samhainj, did you have your cakes in a fruiting chamber with perlite when this happened, do you have any house plants, these can be reasons you get them, can you dunk the cakes in a peroxide/h20, this might kill them also constant air flow will disturb the growth of the gnats, but yes plant them outside, clean, and start anew.

i have no house plants and my house is spotless, i did have them in a terrerium with perlite.

i planted the infected cakes and terrium in a dumpster, i am going to try invitro hopefully that will keep the little fuckers away.

ive seen them but i call them fruit flies and if its cakes you can clean it dunk it put in clean chamber and tape the lid it worked .if theres eggs in the cake wont myc eat them or maybe the cold killed them . even if they dont go away the shrooms that grow are still good i think but may have a little bug poo on em lol.

I just snagged gnats as well. I have also noticed that any fellas that pop up soon turn dark blue, drop their cap, and "melt" to a horrible brown / blue goo. Are these two events related or am I double fucked?

Thanks...

sounds like they're having a literal "mind-melting" experience from those shrooms, brother.
