once when i was on 3Gs of shrooms, i was playing guitar better than i ever had in my life. it served as background music for me and my friend for 45 minutes. just tinkering up and down scales. it just flowed like water.

I can't write music when high...
It requires to much concentration for me to write music...
I can write a little melody or such, but not a song...

It's a hit/miss thing for me. Sometimes, weed/psychedelics/uppers help spark my creativity, but sometimes I just can't get into it.

I was playing set on a come up of a mushroom trip a few years ago. I hadnt played drums in years before that but i still was able to do great, coming up with great fills and stuff. I might off been rushing the tempo a bit tho:).
Jamming is fun.

playing music alone or for friends when you're high is okay, but when you're in a practice session with your band.... It's another story. I wouldn't get high before a practice with my power metal band cuz I play really worse when under the pressure and all, but with my black metal band I would be able to get high and growl like a demonical beast
Back in the days with my very first band we used to get high and play Knife Party by Deftones with the lights off. You can't believe how amazing that was, we even had a girl screaming like in the song.....

I used to jam alot better when i was high, but lately thats reversed. I actually come up with more things and get more creative if im sober, than if im high.
Ass-backwards to how i used to view it all

playing high can improve playing. but I have had times where I didn't improve at all because I was forgetting everything I learned the day before.

alot of our inability to perform is based on lack of self confidence and inhibitions. Drugs can counteract that letting us let out the talent we always had
on shrooms i have spontaneously been able to break dance (something i never did before) as well as do martial arts at an exponentially higher level of skill than sober, and even sing and rap (which i SURE AS HELL cant do sober)

very true words moonshoe,
but was it good? talent isn't everything, there is still technique which isn't something that comes over night.

indeed!!!
but it just goes to show how wonderfully versitile we can be if we can let go of judgement
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

true. but outside of ourself we have a whole world that likes to judge. but the key to beening "good" it to let judgement go from yourself and not care what others think.

That's really good advice, but probably the hardest advice ever to put into practice. If people could just "click" and learn to think less of the judgement of others the world would be drastically different.

Drugs dont write songs......they help ME WRITE songs.
I dont think smoking cannabis = a good song, or that doing msuhrooms always = enlightenment.
BUT, with the right person(and the right brain) , a proper setting and a little less inhibition...............magic happens.

i think it really depends... if i am jamming with good friends, whose musical styles i already know, then being really stoned makes the jam a lot more fun... but if i am playing with people whose styles i don't really know, or if i am trying to songwrite, i think being stoned can actually hinder me, because my mind keeps awanderin'.
