Please help identify?
    #3135809 - 09/14/04 06:30 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

We have several "wild" fungi growing around our property and we were wondering what they were, especially after "harvesting" (and disposing of) about 20 lbs of one kind out of our riding arena (which has grass for our horses to graze on!)

Photos and descriptions here:
What are these things?

The first 2 kinds (from the arena) look to me to be the same species, Chlorophyllum molybdites, a very nasty poisonous mushroom.

The third one (woody mushroom) is the most interesting. For an accurate ID we need to see one where the covering of the spores is still present, and it would help a lot to see the base of the stem as it was in the ground. Having said all that, it resembles species in the genus Battarea.

The last one is a conk, a general group of polypores. I'm not very good with the polypores, but that one looks like a Ganoderma to me.

Happy mushrooming!
