Interesting Group of Mushrooms
    #3135391 - 09/14/04 06:59 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

My girlfriend and I took these pictures while walking in the woods today. I've never witnessed this personally so I figured I would share these with you. If you can ID them please post, it would be interesting to know.

At first glance they look like rotting Honey Mushrooms to me.

Happy mushrooming!

this is the most info i could fill out, i also found some non-rotting ones but did not photograph those

a. Habitat - Base of tree in soil, western NY
b. Characteristics of the gills - light brown, yellow
c. Measurements of cap and stem. - about 3" cap, 3"stem
d. Characteristics of the stem color:white, texture:smooth, solid, thick
e. Characteristics of the cap (color:tanish, texture:smooth, sphere with knotches)

Maybe today I can take a pic of the ones that arent rotting.
