taste of shrooms = not bad?

Am I the only person who's cat doesn't mind the taste of shrooms? I'm not saying he thinks they are GOOD, but he just puts them in his mouth and chews, it doesn't look so bad. He says it tastes kind of like cardboard. Maybe unsalted, unflavored popcorn that's stale

Fecal matter with nutmeg is a delicacy compaired to DXM...

If anyone here has been to a Catholic Church, you'll notice most dried mushrooms taste like the "body of christ" pieces of dried bread they give you. Hummm....I wonder.....

Sorry guys, but I certainly don't like the taste of shrooms. After eating them every other week for about 6 months straight I really dislike the taste of shrooms, to the point I'll gag occasoinally trying to get them down...which is why I just bought a 10 strip instead of having to chow down my homegrown shroomies, figure if I take some time off from shroomies I'll be ready again sometime later.

I used to get them down with loads of McD's fries, but lately I'd gotten tired of fucking around and just chowed them down...being very careful to breathe (I like this spelling of 'breath', any Floyd fan would understand) out my mouth only. Actually works really well if you just don't think of what you're doing...hehe

I find that the stems are ok; they're like cardboard. The caps, though... I can't look at them while I eat them, the softness (dried, never had fresh) compared to the stem is just kind of gross.

That's why I cover the whole thing in peanut butter. That way even if I look, I don't see all the black and brown fungal matter.

i really dont mind the taste at all, like trendal, i just pop em in and chew em up. Part of the reason i don't mind it though is because i know whats ahead and im not thinking much about the taste.

I kinda like the taste. However sometimes the texture of them fresh bothers me, especially if I am already tripping. I absolutely can not re-dose with fresh ones.

I love the taste.  I just had them for the first time the other day.  I didn't see what everyone has been complaining about.  Taste damn good to me.  Especially the fresh ones.  :drooling:

I don't like the taste of food mushrooms so naturally I don't like the taste of shrooms either. I just chew 'em and wash down with a bottle of water though. A few mouthfulls of mushrooms isn't that bad when you consider what you get out of them.

MMmmm I love the taste of shrooms. It is not something you can just eat for good flavor, it's more aquired, but the taste is just sort of trippy to me. It's got a psychedelic taste to it. And the smell of them are even better. Sometimes I'll keep a piece of stem around just for its scent. MMMMMmmm.

As I started to get into shrooming I developed the taste for them. To me they really just tasted like stale popcorn and everything was dandy. Until one time when I had 3.5 grams of what must have been some more potent cubes. I felt really queasy for a portion of the trip, moreso than has ever happened to me. After that it is difficult to put them in my mouth without those memories rushing back. My favorite way I have found to mask the taste is to eat them with mixed berries: blueberries/raspberries/blackberries combined. Get a handful of those and put some fungus on top, pop and repeat until youve downed enough.

I've always had them on peanut butter sandwiches, in which I could never taste them. My one friend pops 'em in and chews them up no problem, the other one almost throws up while eating the SANDWICH. Wide variety in tastes, I suppose.

The first few times I did mushrooms, the taste didnt bother me at all - infact, I rather liked them.

But, I've found the longer I use them, the worse the taste is. Its not so much the taste, but more my body is like 'oh god, I know whats comming' and tries to make me gag so I cant get them down :P

i dont like the taste of shrooms. the smell doesnt bother me, smells similar to feet though sometimes. I have to eat them with sunnyD, cant even taste them that way. the texture is still gross but atleast theres no taste that i can tell.

my uncle and a couple friends claim they dont mind it. my uncle will nibble them down like a delicacy :lol:  and my other friend will take the entire eighth and cram his mouth fucking full and chew it up into what he calls a soup and jsut lets it sit in his mouth for like 5-10 minutes.  Im like man u still aint swollowed that shit yet? he shows me and his teeth are stained blue(no shit)

I usually don't mind them at all. Not something I really think about. If some people don't like them I would just chase them with a drink or eat them in a sandwich.

finally, this is exactly how I feel. I don't really mind the taste because I chew/swallow as quickly as possible, but for some reason I still gag quite a bit, I think because I've been conditioned to realize that something very intense is about to happen. Kinda cool, but kinda not cool cause gagging sucks.

the first time i had them i had 2g in a half of a tunafish sandwich, and i couldnt taste them at all

the second time i had 2.5 in a half and the taste WRECKED me. I almost couldnt get half a sandwich down because of the god awful mushroom taste to it

Now i just crush them up and deal with it :frown:

I had a similar body-gag reflex thing happen with white wine.
I tried a HBWR expirment in soaking them in white wine for 24 hours before eating them.

I tripped rather hard, but also made me VERY sick for the first few hours. For a month or two after, I had a very hard time drinking white wine.

Maybe the certain type of mushrooms I've had just always tasted great. I really can't compare them with stale popcorn, I'd say the texture is similar but the actual taste is extemely unique. It seems to be part of the whole mushroom experience, because for me at least, it has a psychedelic "hint" to the flavor, and it's damn good.

Its not the taste that gets my neighbors dog but the texture. Fresh are better than dry in the dogs oppinion. The dog has never had a problem chomping some down though.

I personally find shrooms revolting! The taste is better when fresh, but still foul. The texture is disgusting when fresh though, it's a lose/lose for me :wink:
I only ever take my shrooms in tea to avoid body load. I have eaten a few caps on a night out, but it wasn't pleasant. FWIW, i've found Coke is an excellent chaser.
I'm gonna start working on an extraction technique as soon as I have fresh material. Nothing fancy, just something to cut down the amount of stuff I have to swallow!

For me, personsally, I find that the more I am in harmony with the mushroom and the better I prepared for the session, the better/less offensive mushrooms taste.

I have grown to like stems that are fleshy and just a bit moist so you have to chew them like peanuts.

Liberty caps are a delicacy!

I really agree with this.
Personally i consider the mushroom trip much more than a trip/drug state.
Harmony really plays a role in my experiences and now that i think about it, flavor is like an indicator. I preffer them fresh and i like to add some salt and lemon juice :P

I like them if they are dry. I have never had them fresh, but they taste like oats or something when dried. I don't like the texture of fresh mushrooms, so I eat mine dry with a glass of orange juice. It doesn't bother me at all, but I also know that I am not eating a crop that grew on a pile of shit.

When I first did shrooms I thought they tasted great, but then my body started to relieze that I was suffering from food poisioning. Now they taste bad to me. But I still love it.

This reminds me Of this one time i bought a 1\4 of mushrooms and the dealer did not have a bag so i just through them in my mouth and chewed until they were indeed "soupy" then i sucked all the moisture out until its almost dry then started chewing again, this meant i had to brush my teeth when i was tripping hard but it was worth it.
