how many of you...
    #3134290 - 09/14/04 02:39 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

would be comfortable with living your entire life in the state of your birth?

what about the city of your birth?

How many of you have never traveld outside of your own country?

Am i the only one who thinks that the ability to travel anywhere in the world is one of the best and most amazing things about the 21st century?

Am i the only one who thinks that living your whole life in the place of your birth is like the most atrocious waste of possibility ever? I mean when you consider how vast the world is, and the amazing things in it, and how lucky we are to have the ability to travel overseas in days, or hours...

I just couldnt live with myself if i missed out on those opportunities. Everytime i fly and get above the cloud level im like holy shit, how incredibly blessed am i to be one of miniscule number of people in history who have seen clouds from above?

i dont want to come down hard on anyone, i realize financial and other issues may arise

But i think everyone should make at least one out-of-country non tourist (in the resort sense) trip in their lives, as a priority.

Second question, those of you who have traveled, where did you go, what did you do, whats your best memory, any advice?

pretty soon im goin globe trottin, cant wait

i warmed up with a few solo flights to Las angelas, but south america and asia will be a different story

i agree that its kind of depressing for people in this day and age to not go anywhere or see anything, but a lot of them like it that way, and they're welcome to stay wherever they please.. i just don't wanna do it

my step-dad's family, for example, has not moved more than 25 miles or so from where they lived 5 generations ago. my stepdad has never left the country, never lived anywhere else but nebraska, and doesn't plan on it.

I wouldn't mind living in my birth-state all my life, as long as I constantly traveled for extended periods of time

The only place I've been to out of the U.S. is Vancouver, Canada. That whole area, along with Seattle and the Mt. Ranier area is pretty sweet. That's my only taste of west coast though. :frown:
Other than that I've been all around Appalachia and the Midwest, alot of it travelling solo. I'm in Ohio currently, heading to North Carolina, which by the way is one of my favorite areas.

I wouldn't mind living in this city forever. It's not bad. i want to move somewhere sometime but don't know where. I like Milwaukee. Not to big not too small, and i love traveling. I've been outta the country a few times...only to canada and since i'm wisconsin it's not far at all and it was just like being in northern wisconsin.

I think I'll always return to Saskatchewan for Summer/Fall but I'll defiantly be living else where during winter..prefereably somewhere warmer than -35.

I was born in California and I would be perfectly happy spending the rest of my life here, assuming I could travel of course.  I've spent most of my life in various parts of LA and I like it here (Venice is the bomb).

I have been to Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, several Caribbean islands and probably half of the European countries (go Netherlands!).  I consider myself fortunate in this respect and it has definitely contributed a lot to being able to appreciate other cultures and the way they see the world.  I am totally bitten by the travel bug.

Probably one of the most meaningful travel moment was, after spending almost two months in France, being able to carry on a simple conversation in French with a Russian girl who spoke absolutely no English (when I first went to France I spoke no French).  That was very cool

Best of luck, Moonshoe.  Make the most of it.

i definitely support everybody going to as many places as possible... i'm still quite young (only 19) but have been lucky enough to have lived in Ohio, Michigan, Norway, and Denmark, along with having travelled to Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, Sweden, France, Germany, and India... and current future plans list Denmark, Brasil, and India as places I'm heading to in the next year or so... globe trotting is where it's at!
