    #3131453 - 09/13/04 08:19 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

 close to over 100 plants all gone to lil worms who seemed to go into the buds and eat from the inside out, never noticed these until recently now which is to late...... anyone know what these things are, and if theres anything we can put on the plants for next season to protect them from these lil nasty thingz, what a sad event

i dont know what they are, but I have had them before. the area they bore into looks exactly like bud rot until you start pulling off the fluffy area and a green worm smears between your fingers. try neem oil next time since they eat the plant material and neem makes it highly unpalatable

they weren't really green, some being orangish/red to a peach color, we had a few back at the house and they would hang from a string out of their ass, possibly silk worm if such a thing is possible? juz such a nuissance though when there is so MANY of them

yeah they look like silk worms or 'inch' worms as they are called around here. I think I've seen the darker ones, but its been a while. never saw them in the proportions you talked about though. what type of vegetation is around the plants?

allll types, trees, corn, random plants here n there, iz in the back of a straw field, naturally been growing for awhile.... if theres any certain vegetation that you had in mind i could maybe tell ya bout that was maybe similar to yours.... and is neem oil effective?

yeah neem oil is cheap and very effective against pests. crawling insects that eat plant matter especially since it makes the plant material very bitter.

any decomposing/dying plants nearby hold a lot of plant eating pests and mold.

bout 5 days ago they showed up in the clone cab. hard as hell to kill em by hand, just keep showing up. i know theres some 'natural' pesticides that will handle em though

edit: ah yes! it was neem oil i was thinking of
