Uneven flushing, now what?
    #3131982 - 09/13/04 11:42 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

So, on some poo/straw casings, a first "flush" has come and gone. THe poo casings began to pull away from the sides of the container a few days ago; the casings were soaked for 12 hours or so in H2o2 water, drained, and some decent fruits popped up. Now, however, there are sort of "straggler" pins popping up. They look as though they'll grow decently, but I'm wondering, given this uneven pinning behavior, when should the casings be dunked, re-cased, to help out the second flush? Thanks!

Let the ones that are still growing mature until the veil breaks or until it's as big as you want for a print. Then pick everything including aborts and mutants etc and then dunk and re case.

Your uneven flush is directly linked to uneven something else: humidity, substrate layer, casing layer, or moisture level etc. The problem is finding out which one........Make sure when you make you casing that it is as level as possible, both the substrate and the top layer.

What kind of terrarium is this in?

The uneven flush is mostly likely to be because you let the casing layer be colonized faster in some areas than others.

Search for "patching" and read up on the techniques and benefits of good patching technique.

Yes, I did patch.  And after picking nice fruits also moved casing layer around with a sterile gloved finger to cover exposed myc.  I have no doubt that something is off, but I doubt it's the humidity (we are in a cabinet, not a terrarium).  The casing layer was pretty damn even.  I've read the whole thread on, "Recipe for an even pinset."  I'm new.  I'll take this as a learning experiment.  Thanks, y'all.
