I don't know what i was thinking..
I bought a filter to build a floowhood , it was expensive and i realise that its was useless. Its only 95% effective at 0.3 micron and filter cannot be exchange or refund.
I have not choice in gonna use the filter anyway,
so i thought about using a ULPA Air Purifier between the pre-filter and the blower. ( in the box holding the blower )

or maybe a UV lamp between the pre-filter and the blower ?
or both ?
What ya think ?
Any other ideas ?

Are you trying to clone stem cells or grow mushrooms?
Growing mushrooms is so easy and people get overly paranoid about contams. Just be sure you PC really well and you should be ok.

Use the filter ya purchased as a prefilter for a real HEPA. If you put a cheap filter in front of that (the one you got) you'll have a flowhood for life! Triple protection!  May I ask how much ya paid for it?

I like that idea Hyphae, expensive if planned but it pays off well in the long run. Also you will need a larger fan(s)

Hyphae, i paid 300 $ CAN for a 24"x24"x12" ( i know, I'm crazy )
I cannot afford a Hepa for the moment.
but i can afford a ULPA air purifier to put between the pre-filter and blower or between the blower and filter.
what ya think ?

Believe it or not growing shrooms indoor requires somewhat of a sterile culture technique, also a PC doesn't help much when it comes to g2g or any transfers for that matter, besides it makes many teks so much easier. Call me a noid but getting sloppy will lead to contams 100% of the time, PCing is only a small part of this hobby.

You need a HEPA filter. You can get one at walmart for around $20. Otherwise just make a glovebox.

You don't need such a big filter. Build your flow hood like a fume hood except reverse the airflow. e.g. put the filter at the top and have a sliding plexiglass front.
Most of the flow hood designs I see here are wastefull IMHO. You don't need a filter as big as the back of the hood.
Search the adv. cult. forum. I, and others, posted some notes not too long ago about building a flow hood using a $40-50 walmart hepa filter. Just read the post, go to walmart, and buy the hepa system they have. If you already have a blower then just buy a filter there and hook it up to the blower.

Flowhoods, gloveboxes, and filters OH MY!
I don't have anything like that.
I make my syringes in front of my computer (where I'm typing right now). I wipe the area down fairly well, spray some lysol, and off I go. Never made a bad syringe, and I've made dozens this way.
I innoculate on the kitchen counter, or if I'm doing g2g, I will turn on the oven and do my transfer on the oven door. I just recently started doing grain to grain, but out of 3 large batches of popcorn spawn, I've not had a single contamination to date.
I spawn to straw in a large rubbermaid tote, cover with plastic and toss in a well used closet to colonize. When that's done, I case it and toss it back in the same closet. Again... no contams.
I think we tend to go a little overboard with this sort of thing. You don't need any fancy equipment to grow even large quantities of mushrooms... just a little common sense.

id agree but some peoples houses are just older and have alot more contam floating around. in this hobbie it never really pays to be careless your just asking for trouble. id rather be certain it will all be ok..

Very important point It all boils down to environmental spore loads You speak the words of an experienced grower. 5 shrooms for good advice!
